CROWD PARTICIPATION....REALLY EXCITING!!!!

I had seen this video of the enactment of the song "Doe a deer.." on a platform in Belgium at this blog. I had enjoyed the video for its originality. It gave me great pleasure to watch.

I was narrating this to my son-in-law, who happens to be in the visual media field and he told me about another one performed in the streets of downtown Chicago. Watching this was a very exhilarating experience. Here's what happened....

I do hope some one can get something of this kind performed in one of our cities in India. Ordinary people's participation, alongwith paid performers, gives it a totally different feel.It can really lift people's spirits.

Renu and BK Chowla: Sorry for being missing from the blogworld - have been travelling in the physical world...Delhi, Chandigarh, and now in Canada - enjoying the warmth of my grand daughter's company during this unusually cold fall season.

The video works fine out here. I don't know what is the problem.

That's a lovely video, though it ran in bits and pieces.

During the fiftieth year of our Independence celebrations, some thing similar was witnessed at Delhi's Rajpath, and areas around India gate at night where almost whole of Delhi had come out on roads to watch the illuminations of the govt buildings. The AR Rehman's Vande Mataram Song was playing on loudspeakers installed over a stretch of a few kilometers on all the roads and the crowd was singing and dancing to the song in a fit of patriotism. Though the dance was not as synchronised as this.

Thanks for sharing.

Balvinder: I too had heard about A R Rehman's rendition of the "Vande Mataram" at Rajpath during the BJP government's tenure. I had seen it on TV later. I did not know about the other part that you mentioned. I wish somebody had captured the spirit of the ordinary people on tape for posterity.. this is what lifts people up and in turn nations... feelings ... feelings of being proud. I believe, in the final analysis, it is how we feel about ourselves, that is important and that is what can lead us to greatness.
