Transformation of Indians from being 'Customers' to 'Citizens'

Indians have been put through a great deal of hardship ever since the BJP under PM Modi formed the government in Delhi. These hardships started with the 'demonetisation of currency', and further increased with the implementation of GST; linking of Aadhar with every financial product, etc.

These measures have not only been tough on the citizens, but have been even tougher political decisions, as taking them is like committing political suicide. However, the voting patterns still indicate that the BJP is the most favoured political dispensation in the country. BJP now forms/ is part of the government at the Centre, as well 19 states of India - a really creditable performance.

Surat the town that was worst hit by 'demonetisation' and GST, going by inherent psyche of the Gujrati traders, still voted in favour of the BJP.

We really are becoming 'citizens', where-in we understand that we not only have rights, but responsibilities too.

This prompted a political analyst to remark on TV, with words to the effect that Indians are slowly but surely transforming from customers demanding free doles from the government, to citizens who are now willing to do their part in the nation building, despite hardships.

How true!

I agree.

Do you?
