Ram Janma Bhoomi Mandir - Pran Pratishtha - Ayodhya

Viewing this Consecration event within the narrow confines of a particular religion is doing injustice to the ancient, all inclusive, accepting - beyond tolerance inheritors of this land; a land with an unbroken legacy of a living itihaas of a millenia old civilisational & cultural ethos, which celebrates co-existing with others, as part of the Created universe, irrespective of shape, form, beliefs and faith, aptly summed up in two words, "Vasudaiva Kutumbakkam", or the Creation is one big family of Vasudaiva (The omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, Almighty God)

To my mind, this event is a giant step by humanity, through such spontaneous & voluntary outpouring of humans to reclaim Shri Ram's legacy of a just, responsive, harmonious, and peaceful co-existence in the human form, as an invaluable part of the vast & varied Creation of God.

It seems that the inter-generational, latent emotional needs of an accepting, all inclusive, & law abiding majority of this land, the Sanatanis, were repressed, and worse, trashed for over many centuries by ruthless invaders of every kind. Each one of these relatively small band of  invaders who succeeded had strategically aimed at instilling fear, and delivering a body blow to the self esteem of the inhabitants of the land. The operational & tactical means employed to give a psychological, emotional & physical blow to the inhabitants were raids, plundering, killings, destruction of the religious symbols of faith, conversions, etc.

Freedom from the British, partition on the basis of religion & independence did not bring any sense of closure to the rampant destruction & very low self esteem of the people of this sacred land.

This event seems to have provided a seemingly much needed relief valve to the pent up emotions & sense of hurt, after a long & arduous legal battle, followed by the commencement, and now the Consecration of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple. It is a blissful sight to witness this joyous event in our lifetime, whose significance should not be seen through a myopic religious lens.

Jai Shri Ram.
